Little did anyone at WonderCon know, they were secretly filming the new Freddy vs. Jason movie, Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash.
My money is on the man with the boomstick.
| Anonymous: Why do you feel that the new version of Nightmare on Elm Street was a letdown? |
Because it was bad.
I wanted to like it. Jackie Earle Haley’s good. Rooney Mara’s good. Kyle Gallner’s good. Connie Britton’s good. And while people give Platinum Dunes a lot of flack for being a never-ending remake machine, I actually really dig both their Friday the 13th and Amityville Horror reboots and I don’t mind the TCM one either. But if it’s not good it’s not good — and to me the Elm Street remake was a mess. Modern remakes are constantly accused of going for style over substance and losing the meat of the story in the process and the Elm Street remake was probably that particular crime’s biggest offender.
It’s not the worst movie I’ve ever seen or anything and the nods to the original are just cute enough to justify watching it at least once, but I was expecting it to be something a little more inspired than it was. It was all gloss and I just didn’t care about anything that was happening even when I really, really wanted to.
