My name is Tommy. I'm a 21-year-old college student from the primitive wilds of Kentucky who really likes horror films. Like, a lot. This blog is my tribute to them. It features creepy pictures, gifs, reviews, ramblings and fiction.

I just wanted to tell you that I too am still terrified by The Exorcist. I first saw it as a child and I have memories of holding a crucifix and a bible while watching it. I grew up catholic. Anyway, anytime I watch this movie I can't sleep alone.

I think religion factors heavily into whether or not somebody “gets” The Exorcist. I feel like it might not work as well on those who didn’t grow up in a Christian environment.

The religious aspects of my upbringing were really weird. I never went to “church”, per say, but I went to bible study every Tuesday night for years. In hindsight, it was mainly a way for my parents to get me out of the house so they could more easily do drugs and whatnot. Haha. In my youth I was mostly terrified of the representation of God that was presented to me. It was literally just “Follow these rules or burn in a fiery Hell for all eternity.” Religion, as it was presented to me, left me horrified for much of my childhood. I think that’s part of why The Exorcist gets me, personally.
