House on Haunted Hill for both, please!
It was the first William Castle joint I ever saw. He’s my favorite filmmaker of all time, now. I’m enamored by his gimmickry and panache. Films are about having fun and nobody understood that as well as he did.
It was also the first time I got to see Vincent Price in his element. In my youth, my only exposure to VP was through the 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo and his background role in Edward Scissorhands. Both are awesome, but they’re worlds away from a classic Vincent Price film.
House on Haunted Hill just brings together my favorite actor and my favorite director, better than any other film I can think of. I also love the Tingler, and I could spend hours listing other films from both men that I enjoy, but House on Haunted Hill has a special place in my heart. It’s such a fun flick. =]
